What I Learned from Investing in Nvidia in 2021 before the "crash".
Before ChatGPT burst onto the scene in November 2022, Nvidia was still widely seen as just a gaming company many.
After completing my due diligence in 2020, I wa convinced that Nvidia would emerge as a major player in the AI and autonomous driving space, a potential competitor to Alphabet (household name in the AI space).
In mid 2020,, I made a significant investment, entered at around $15+, with a long-term 5 to 10 years view as AI technology matured. At the time metaverse, Web3.0 and NFT were all the rage.
By the end of 2021, the stock had doubled, reaching a high of $35. However, it started crashing fast. I vividly remember hearing the same pessimistic arguments from the himdsight gurus back then that we’re hearing today on Rigetti and IonQ. The stock continued to slide for the next 12 months. Some investors took profits, while others cut their losses and exited the position.
Despite making a big loss on paper, I held on, staying true to my original conviction, knowing that I was in it for the long haul.
By November 2022 when ChatGPT’s made headline the rest is history.
Don’t be discouraged by these hindsight experts. They’re like parasites, pests, and hyenas preying on fear.
Quantum computing is here to stay. It’s AI’s younger sibling, evolving rapidly. Patience will pay off.
